Second part of my asoiaf character/other memorable childhood character (often from French fantasy) portraits : Brienne, the Maid of Tarth, and Nawel Helianthas, one of the 54 Armored Guardians of the 12 cities of Jurilan (from the novel Les Âmes Croisées - the Star-Crossed Souls if you will - by Pierre Bottero)
So, to begin with this, Nawel isn't quite physically like Brienne ; she's originally moderately handsome, with one thing in her appearance she considers truly attractive, her honey-colored hair - like Brienne has exceptionally beautiful eyes. Brienne is like she is because it's her nature - she wants to be a knight, while Nawel always more or less followed the path her family and society expected for her (the road to power and great riches). Even character-wise they're different, with Nawel being bold, with some arrogance and carelessness in her, while Brienne is fundamentally good to begin with. And yet, the both of them find themselves in similar positions, warrior ladies having abandoned their ordained roles in society (down to radically changing her appearance for Nawel, cutting her beautiful hair and committing to hard training, letting go of her vanity) and trying the best they can to protect and serve, going on road trips trying to find a purpose & the meaning of life (alongside the people/things they're supposed to look for). & trying to escape guilt. They visit strange, somewhat scary places on their trips. And more than anything else, their persistance, their dedication to their task is their true strength.
...and also the both of them exist in a stasis between life & death cause Nawel's book never got a sequel cause the author died, and her ending is being in a deadly jungle, waiting for danger to show up.
The cool thing is that Nawel enters a warrior/guardian order in her society and they have sentient technologically advanced Armors, and they perceive them as essentially magic, because they live in the ruins of an extinct but amazing civilisation and they don't know how half of the stuff left works.

J'ai pleuré. J'ai parlé. J'ai pleuré en parlant, j'ai parlé en pleurant, comme si un univers de larmes et de mots demandait à jaillir de moi. Et jaillissait.

TAG ☀️
Rules: list ten of your favorite female characters from 10 different fandoms, and tag 10 people
I was tagged by @tog-trash This made me realise that I love male characters much more than female characters ? Or is it just that female characters are less represented or given less importance ? Anyway, here’s the list (not sure all of them have fandoms ? If they don’t they need to have one cause they’re amazing):
1. Ellana Caldwin - Le Pacte des Marchombres
2. Aelin Ashryver Galathinius - Throne of Glass
3. Tiffany Aching - Discworld
4. Rosa Diaz - Brooklyn 99
5. Nausicaä - Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
6. Vin - Mistborn Series
7. Nomi Marks - Sense8
8. Yona - Yona of the Dawn
9. Nawel Hélianthas - Les Âmes Croisées
10. Judith - Le Visiteur du Futur
